Chair of Theoretical Nanophysics
Opportunities for students, PhDs and postdocs
The Chair of Theoretical Nanophysics and its associated research groups regularly offer projects and positions for motivated students and researchers at all career stages. We welcome applications for Bachelor and Master theses, PhD positions (typically 3 years) and postdoctoral positions (typically 2 years).
Our research covers strongly correlated quantum many-body systems, tensor-network methods (DMRG, MPS, PEPS, TDVP), quantum simulation with ultracold atoms, lattice gauge theories, out-of-equilibrium dynamics, quantum chemistry and machine learning for quantum systems. Candidates are encouraged to contact the group leader whose research most closely matches their interests.

How to Apply

Please send your application directly to the group leader whose research area matches your interests. A typical application should include:
· a short motivation letter outlining your scientific interests
· your CV, including current position and a list of relevant courses
· academic transcripts (Bachelor and, if applicable, Master)
· for PhD and postdoc applications: names of two or three academic references
For all organisational matters concerning the chair — including application logistics, visitor arrangements and onboarding — please contact the Chair Manager, Kathrin Higgen: kathrin.higgen@lmu.de
