WP18 General Relativity (TC1)

The module covers the following topics: Introduction to the differential geometry: manifolds, vectors and tensors, connection, metric, geodesics and curvature. Furthermore, the equivalence principle, special relativity, propagation of light and redshift, Einstein?s equations, Newtonian limit of General Relativity, coordinates conditions Cauchy problem, spherically symmetric gravitational field and Schwarzschild solution, perihelion shift and deviation of light, weak gravitational field and post-newtonian approximation, gravitational waves, black holes are discussed. The aim of the module is an acquaintance with the basic concepts of General Relativity and familiarity with the most important concepts of differential geometry
