(19.01.) Symmetry TFTs from string theory

String theory can be used very fruitfully as a tool for translating questions about quantum field theory into questions about geometry, which can then be answered using geometric techniques. I will review recent work that uses this approach for understanding some aspects of the "Symmetry TFT" (a concept I will define) associated with the generalised symmetries of QFTs realisable in string theory.
