(03.11.) Some tools and databases for global model building on CICYs

In this seminar I will present some of the work I have been doing in the past three years in the field of String Phenomenology. In particular I will review some results which could be useful for the construction of a top-down global model from IIB superstring compactified on a Calabi-Yau (CY) orientifold. I will begin by introducing an essentially complete database of all the orientifolds of CYs beloging to the CICY class. I will discuss both statistics on this database of orientifolds, as well as novel physical phenomena we find, as for example "frozen conifold" singularities. I will then move to discuss the topology of coordinate divisors of CICYs, and the relevance of this result for the generation of non-perturbative terms in the superpotential for Kahler moduli. I will then move to discuss Gopakumar-Vafa invariants for these geometries, and their relevance for complex structure moduli stabilization. Finally I will present an attempt to generate models with an exponentially small flux superpotential W0, within this class of manifolds.
