(30.10.) The BCJ double copy and Kerr-Schild metrics

Donal O'Connell (Edinburgh)

Scattering amplitudes in gauge theory and gravity are related, to all orders of
perturbation theory, by a map known as the BCJ double copy. This suggests
that there is a link between classical backgrounds in these theories. In this
talk, I will propose that a general class of solutions of Abelian gauge theory
double copy to Einstein gravity, namely the case of stationary Kerr-Schild
metrics. Examples include the Schwarzschild and Kerr black holes. I will also
discuss the double-copy map between self-dual solutions of Einstein gravity
and Yang-Mills theory, and explain how this map fits into the Kerr-Schild
framework.
