I will review the status of the recently proposed correspondence
between extremal black holes, e.g. the extremal Kerr black hole, and a
conformal field theory (CFT) defined in the near-horizon region. I will
show that a Virasoro algebra universally appears for extremal black holes
and allows to account for their entropy. I will also briefly mention how
part of the greybody factors can also be reproduced from a CFT.
