Computational & Plasma Physics

With the advent of very powerful laser facilities new regimes of classical and quantum laser-matter and laser-vacuum physics are entered. In the quantum realm electron-positron pair production and radiation are encountered. The modeling of the nonlinear processes implied is based on transport equations for electrons, positrons, and photons, which are solved with the help of numerical simulations. The numerical simulation techniques employed are multi-scale Particle-In-Cell methods.
