Functional Renormalization Group Formulation of Migdal-Eliashberg Equations

Max Hansen, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt

Superconductivity is not only extremely relevant for engineers and experimentalists, but it
is one of the most fascinating subjects in condensed matter theory, particularly, since it is
remains unsolved in its entirety to this day. Hence, within this talk I will summarize the main
aspects of one theory of superconductivity, namely Migdal -Eliashberg theory, outline why
this rather old problem is of new importance nowadays and connect to the old results via
functional methods. Eventually, I discuss the extensi on of Migdal-Eliashberg theory within
the framework of the FRG.
