(24.01.) The Universal Geometry of Heterotic Vacua

Jock McOrist (Surrey)

This talk is about derivatives. We show that demanding manifest gauge covariance on the moduli space of heterotic vacua leads to a construction of a “universal bundle”. Just as special relativity unified electricity and magnetism in a single tensor framework, we find tensors on the moduli space are unified with tensors in the heterotic theory. This leads to wonderful things. Deformation theory, replete with all its complicated algebraic relations, is recast in terms of simple tensor equations. A previous complicated 59 page calculation is reduced to a page. New algebraic relations are proposed. Our results are likely generalisable to other supersymmetric moduli spaces.
