(27.07.) Frobenius Chern-Simons gauge theory, from Higher Spins to Topological open Strings

It is well known that finding action principles for interacting higher spin theories poses several challenges, and no satisfactory answer is available at the moment. In this talk I will present some non-standard actions, of generalized hamiltonian form, that can formally produce Vasiliev's equations on shell. The focus will be mainly on the algebraic structures that appear naturally in the construction and that suggest analogies with open string field theory. Inspired by these similarities and other hints, we suggest possible directions to find a microscopic origin of Vasiliev's theory as a topological open string
