08/2022: Workshop on "Strongly Correlated Matter: from Quantum Criticality to Flat Bands"

22.08.2022  -  02.09.2022

We are pleased to let you know that a workshop on "Strongly Correlated Matter: from Quantum Criticality to Flat Bands" will be held from 22 August to 2 September, 2022 at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy. The workshop is co-sponsored by ICTP, William I. Fine Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Minnesota, and Institute for Complex and Adaptive Matter (ICAM). This is going to be a hybrid event, with most of the talks given by speakers physically present at ICTP, while participants being able to attend either in person or remotely. The goal of this meeting is to review cutting-edge research in the area of emergent quantum fluids and materials, with a strong emphasis on bringing students, particularly from less advantaged backgrounds, into the fold of current research in this area. To this end, the days of Monday, 22 August, and Monday, 29 August, are reserved for tutorials on topics relevant to the subject of the workshop. The central topics of the 2022 meeting will be new developments in the areas of quantum critical phenomena, flat-band materials, unconventional superconductivity, and strange metals. For more details, please visit the workshop webpage at http://indico.ictp.it/event/9822 /. There is no registration fee for the meeting. To apply for participation in the workshop, please click the tab "Apply here" and follow the instructions. You will have to specify whether you would like to attend the workshop in person or remotely. We look forward to seeing you in Trieste! Sincerely, The organizers Andrey Chubukov, Piers Coleman, Alex Kamenev, Hae-Young Kee, Dmitrii Maslov, Tigran Sedrakyan, Hide Takagi, Oscar Vafek
