Master thesis information event: Presentation of Master projects on Monday, 25.08.2025, at 14:15, in hybrid mode: room A248 at Theresienstrasse 37, and via Zoom (link available upon request)

We are always looking for highly motivated students interested in pursuing their Master’s research project in a stimulating scientific environment. Candidates with a strong background in theoretical or computational quantum physics or quantum chemistry, and with an excellent academic record, are warmly encouraged to contact us to discuss potential projects. Recent topics (among others) include:

  • Development of methods for strongly correlated electrons in physics and chemistry
  • Automated selection schemes for active spaces in quantum chemistry and quantum optics
  • Foundations of quantum computing and the development of quantum algorithms
  • Novel entanglement scaling laws in confined off-lattice systems
  • Foundations of entanglement in systems of identical particles
  • Geometry of density matrices and its implications for functional theory

Inquiries about a possible Master project shall be send together with a CV & academic transcripts (Bachelor and ongoing Master) to: c.schilling@lmu.de                                                                                                                      Also let us know when you plan to have finished your Master course work and like to start the Master project afterwards.
