(20.07.) Branes, Quivers and BPS Algebras

Compactification of string theory on a Calabi-Yau threefold CY3 yields a four-dimensional theory with line operators descending from branes wrapping various cycles inside CY3. These line operators in turn support various algebras of local operators, motivating a correspondence between associative algebras and geometry of CY3. In this talk, I am going to briefly review the main steps in the construction of such algebras. I am also going to illustrate the construction on CY3 being an omega-deformed $\mathbb{C}^3$. This choice leads to an extremely rich correspondence between branes in $\mathbb{C}^3$ and the representation theory of the affine Yangian of $\mathfrak{gl}_1$, a story significantly extending the well-known AGT correspondence.
