(20.04.) 3d gravity and Teichmueller TQFT

I will explain a proposal which relates three-dimensional quantum gravity in AdS3 to a particular 3d TQFT known as Teichmueller TQFT. This relation gives a precise meaning to the standard folklore that pure 3d gravity is related to two copies of SL(2,R) Chern-Simons theory. I will discuss that replacing SL(2,R) Chern-Simons theory by Teichmueller TQFT solves several known problems in the correspondence. The relation provides a computationally useful tool to study partition functions of 3d gravity. The talk is based on work in progress with Scott Collier and Mengyang Zhang.
