WP8 Quantum Information Processing (TA7)

This module is composed of three parts: (i) Introduction to the mathematical foundations of Quantum Information Theory Quantum Mechanics offers new ways of processing and transmitting information. By using quantum superpositions and entangled states it is possible to perform certain information processing tasks efficiently. For example, it is possible in principle to send secret information with complete security against eavesdropping, or to perform certain calculations which are not possible with current (and even future) classical computers. This module offers an introduction to those new possibilities offered by quantum mechanical information processing. The main goal is to become familiar with the mathematical and physical foundations for quantum information processing.
