WP5 Many Body Theory (TA3)

This module deals with one-dimensional metals (Luttinger liquids), quantum impurity models (Kondo physics), non-Fermi liquid systems (multi-channel Kondo physics), the Hubbard model in various dimensions and disorder effects (Anderson localization). The following methods will be discussed: Diagrammatic techniques, poor man?s scaling renormalization, bosonization and refermionization, dynamical mean field theory and numerical methods. This module offers a model-oriented introduction to modern condensed matter theory. Models and methods are introduced in parallel in order to represent the interaction between method development and concrete theoretical questions. The main goal of the course is to give an overview over the most important microscopic models, which are key for research in modern condensed matter theory.
