We regularly offer topics for Bachelor and Master theses as well as PhD (3 years) and postdoctoral (2 years) positions.

If you are interested in a thesis or a position in our group, please contact:

Prof. Dr. Ulrich Schollwöck (schollwoeck@lmu.de)
Prof. Dr. Lode Pollet (lode.pollet@lmu.de)

Master Thesis Topics are available in the following areas:

  • Development of tensor network algorithms and DMRG codes
  • Nonequilibrium physics of interacting fermions, spins or bosons (especially ultracold atoms)
  • Quantum magnetism, frustrated magnets, spin and heat transport
  • Transport properties of nanostructures (quantum dots, single-molecule conductors, etc.)

Our main theoretical tool is the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG) method, complemented by Monte Carlo simulations and exact diagonalization.
