Since the discovery of the iron based superconductors, there has been considerable discussion of the proper theoretical framework for describing these systems. Are these weakly correlated itinerant magnets? Can these compounds share some physics with the copper oxides high temperature superconductors? In this talk we will review the results of some experimental studies together with some LDA+DMFT calculations for the normal state of these materials and conclude that they constitute Hunds metals, a new class of strongly correlate systems. We will conclude with some discussion of the implications of these findings for their supercondudctivity.
