The first ISQG Workshop

As part of the newly established International Society for Quantum Gravity (ISQG), we would like to invite you to participate in a 3-day online meeting on October 5th to 7th 2021. The purpose of this meeting is to engage in a scientific dialogue about different approaches to quantum gravity and their interconnections. The focus is on “status reports” on several approaches and overarching topics in quantum gravity.

The programme features several experts in the different approaches and topics who will be giving pre-recorded talks. All talks will be available beforehand so everyone, independently of their time zone, can watch at their convenience. During the actual meeting we will be having 30 min discussion sessions with the speakers, panelists and moderators on the various talks as well as more general discussions that give the opportunity to participants to ask questions about the various topics.

The talks cover aspects of some of the different approaches to quantum gravity and potential interconnections between them; aim at identifying points of contact with experiment; and highlight fundamental and conceptual questions about the nature of quantum gravity.

Programme:

There is a 2-hour slot each day, 5 pm - 7 pm CEST which is dedicated to discussions only; 30 minutes discussion on each of the talks.

5th of October:

5 pm-5.30 pm: Launch of ISQG and book launch “Conversations on Quantum Gravity” by Jay Armas.

5.30-6.00 pm: Discussion on string theory (Cumrun Vafa, Herman Verlinde, Dieter Lust)

6.00-6.30 pm: Discussion on LQG (Bianca Dittrich, Etera Livine, Thomas Thiemann)

6.30-7.00 pm: Discussion on asymptotic safety (Astrid Eichhorn, Roberto Percacci, Antonio Pereira)

6th of October:

5 pm-5.30 pm: General discussion

5.30-6.00 pm: Discussion on CDT (Renate Loll, Andrzej Goerlich, Jan Ambjørn)

6.00-6.30 pm: Discussion on tensorial group field theory (Daniele Oriti, Razvan Gurau, Joseph Ben Geloun)

6.30-7.00 pm: Discussion on causal sets (Sumati Surya, Fay Dowker, Lisa Glaser)
7th of October:

5 pm-5.30 pm: General discussion

5.30-6.00 pm: Discussion on AdS/CFT (Rajesh Gopakumar, Suvrat Raju, Jan de Boer)

6.00-6.30 pm: Discussion on quantum black holes (Steven Giddings, Alejandro Perez, Daniel Harlow)

6.30-7.00 pm: Discussion on quantum gravity and fundamental cosmology (Mairi Sakellariadou, Robert Brandenberger, Ivan Agullo)
